Natural Stone

As a professional in the home design industry, I have witnessed the rise and fall in popularity of granite countertops in recent years. However, homeowners are still drawn to the unique and natural beauty of granite stone as well as its durability and low maintenance.

The Benefits of Granite Countertops

One of the main benefits of granite countertops is their one-of-a-kind natural beauty and durability. Unlike other materials, granite can withstand high heat and is resistant to scratches and stains. This means that your countertops will last for many years without showing signs of wear and tear. Additionally, granite countertops are easy to clean with just soap and water, making them a low maintenance option for busy homeowners.

Another benefit of granite countertops is their unique appearance. Because granite is a natural stone, each slab has its own distinct pattern and color. This means that your countertops will be one-of-a-kind and will add a beautiful and natural element to your home. Additionally, granite is available in a wide range of colors and patterns, so you can choose the perfect option to match your home’s decor.  Granite countertops are a great investment for your home. Because they are durable and long-lasting, they can increase the value of your home and make it more attractive to potential buyers.

Granite Countertop Maintenance and Care

While granite countertops are durable and low maintenance, it is still important to take proper care of them to ensure their longevity. To clean your granite countertops, simply use a mild soap and water solution and avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbers that can scratch the surface.  We also recommend to sealed every few years to protect them from stains and damage. A professional can apply a sealant to the surface of the countertop, which will help to repel liquids and prevent them from seeping into the stone and staining the stone.

Is Granite Right for You?

Granite countertops are a beautiful and durable option for any home. They offer a unique and natural appearance that can’t be matched by quartz or other mand made surface. Additionally, granite is a low maintenance material that is resistant to heat, scratches, and stains.  Granite will need to be seal every year and keep it clean daily to avoid stains.
Repairing Damaged Granite Countertops

While granite countertops are durable, they can still become damaged over time. Scratches and chips can occur if the countertop is not properly cared for, or if heavy objects are dropped on the surface.

Fortunately, repairing damaged granite countertops can be done. Small chips and large chips and scratches can be filled in with a color-matched epoxy.  Granite cracks can also be repair by filling color-matched epoxy and polishing the repair to blend perfectly the repair to the slab.  Additionally, if your granite countertop becomes dull or scratched over time, a professional can polish the surface to restore its shine and luster
